Paid subscriptions & the future of this blog
Some of you may have noticed an essay or two has been restricted to paid subscribers. I’ve been stalling on how to move forward with this blog for a while. I now plan to do a few things to incentivize readers to consider paid subscriptions. For those of you who were already paid subscribers despite the total lack of benefit in doing so, you have my immense gratitude! Thank you!
First, I will be making some older articles only available to paid subscribers. This will give people some incentive to become paid subscribers if they’re really interested in my backlog of posts without limiting accessibility to free subscribers who’ve already been reading much of my content for the past couple years.
Second, certain articles will be first available to paid subscribers, and only later available to everyone else. This satisfies my desire to make most of what I write here available to everyone, but still provides a perk to paying subscribers.
Third, some new articles (especially longer ones that take more work) will only be available to paid subscribers.
However, I also don’t want anything on this blog to become inaccessible to people who aren’t in a position to spend money just to hear what I have to say. As such, my operating policy will be that if you can’t access an article but want to read it, send me an email and I’ll give you access to that article. You don’t need to give an explanation or justify the request, just ask!
I’d like this blog to eventually become a hub for news and discussions about my interests: metaethics, metaphilosophy, metascience, experimental philosophy, and moral psychology (and perhaps, on occasion, other topics, like free will), and whatever else I may focus on in the future.
I’d also like it to be a place that includes more voices than mine. That’s where you come in. Do you have questions? Send them in. Article recommendations? Send those my way. Want to say something about metaethics or the other topics on my blog? Shoot me an email. I’d be happy to field and respond to questions if I think they’re suitable for the blog, and I’d be open to guest posts and collaborations as well.
I’ve started something similar on my YouTube channel as well, where I recently decided to post an Ask Me Anything (AMA). It’s going to take me a bit to get to it since, as of the time of writing, I will soon be traveling for about a week. So you still have plenty of time to ask me a question. You can see the video where you can submit a question here. I’m also hoping to have some guest posts here eventually, as well.
In the meantime, if you’re reading this, and aren’t subscribed, consider subscribing. If you are subscribed, consider a paid subscription. I’ve kept monthly membership at the lowest Substack allows and set it to offer a big annual discount. As an extra incentive to anyone who made it to the end of this fairly boring blog post, I apparently can offer discounts. So, let’s do that. Just follow this link and you can get 30% off your subscription for the next year (This will expire 10/1/2024):
